Having the correct jewellery making supplies means that you are able to make every piece as professional as possible. Here is a list of essential jewellery making supplies that every jewellery making kit should have.
Pliers
Needle nose pliers are the perfect all purpose tool that should be bought as soon as possible. They are among the most important jewellery making tool that you will need to begin any project. They are used to bend, cut, hold and manipulate all the wire that you will be using. Once you have made a few pieces, you might also prefer to buy some round nose pliers that make looping the wire a lot easier.
Wires
Wires also make an essential part of the jewellery making supplies. Wires used for jewellery manufacturing are available in a wide range of metals, thickness, and shapes. However, before buying wires for a jewellery project you must seek advice from experts because the wire gauge depends upon the size and weight of the ornament.
Beading needles
They are one of the useful jewellery making supplies that you should buy before you have even decided what projects you want to attempt. Wherever there are beads needing to be threaded, there will be beading needles that make the task quite easy. Beading needles are very flexible, which will allow you to get quite creative with different weaving techniques.
Storage containers
While many craft stores offer useful containers, you are more likely better to find useful storage devices at a hardware store such as fishing boxes or nuts and bolts boxes. A good storage container should do three things:
1. Separate different types of beads
2. Allow easy access to the different types of beads
3. Allow you to see all the different types of beads
Different sized containers are available but make sure you can buy one that can be transported if that is something that you will be doing.
Beading boards
They have a deep grove that you can use to hold and arrange the beads before you string them. The boards provide measurements so you can arrange them perfectly. They are most helpful when stringing multiple strands for a necklace or bracelet so you can see the length each one will be before they are strung.
Beeswax
If you are working with beading thread for your project, beeswax will strengthen, protect and stop the thread from tangling.
Steel Tweezer Set
A steel tweezer set is ideal for close work, it will contain different tips for various projects and can allow intricate detailed work such as picking up tiny beads, threading, and helping to hold on items which are being glued or soldered without getting fingers in the way.
Wire cutter
Wires have already been mentioned as an essential jewellery making item, so it follows on from this to ensure you have a pair of wire cutters, which cut cleanly and easily through tough wire - making sure you get a professional finish without damaging normal cutters / scissors.
