With Easter just around the corner, schools have the perfect opportunity to raise money for resources, buildings, equipment, excursions or whatever else they may need that is not covered by the standard budget. Easter gives the children a great chance to be creative and is an excellent theme to base your fundraising efforts around.

The easiest types of money-making ideas using an Easter theme involves Easter eggs. Everyone loves chocolate, and having these as prizes can lure in people to open their wallet and spend. One such strategy is to simply raffle off a giant Easter egg. Buy an big chocolate egg from the store and then sell raffle tickets for a chance to win it. The egg might only cost $20 and if you sell tickets for $2 each and sell 100, that is a $180 profit without much work involved.

Get all the kids to take it home to their families, and maybe even the parents can help sell raffle tickets at work. Getting a couple of small consolation prizes such as packets of small caramel eggs can also entice people to buy the tickets, as there is not just one person winning the prize. If you have an open day or fete at the school, this is also a perfect opportunity to sell more tickets.

There are other similar ways to make money for your class. Other school fundraising ideas include the 'Guess how many Easter Eggs' there are in a jar competition. School kids love guessing games, and filling a jar with lots of small chocolate eggs and having people guess how many eggs is fun and smart as a fundraiser. Charge people $1 a guess to pick how many eggs there are in the jar. Then the closest person gets the whole jar of Easter eggs. Again if you have a school fete this is a great way to get lots of people guessing, and thus more money for the event.

Another fundraising idea that gets lots of people involved is an Easter Egg hunt. Organise a certain area such as the playground or sports field and hide eggs all over these places. Charge a set amount for people to take part in the activity, or make it a free event and use the opportunity to promote selling raffle tickets or other fundraiser strategies that you have. Make sure that it's not a really hot day, as chocolate easter eggs can melt and it can become very messy for all participants!

The Easter bunny is the main thing people think of at Easter, so you might want to consider having the Easter Bunny turn up to your event. Especially if it's for kids, they all love special characters, so organise someone to dress up in a bunny suit and make it lots of fun for everyone. The children can get their photos taken with the Easter Bunny and he might be able to join in some of the activities.

For older kids, a dance party with a bunny theme is a good idea. Get everyone to dress up, whether it be with bunny ears, a painted face, a little white bobbed tail, the choice is up to them. Organise a DJ to play music, charge a small fee, and maybe even sell refreshments to help your fundraising reach its target.
