Are you searching for jewellery making supplies to make your own necklaces, bracelets, pendants or earrings? Are you thinking of ways to surprise your family or friends with beautiful unique handmade jewellery that has cost you near to nothing? Read on to learn what supplies you need to create and design your ideal perfect jewellery.

First of all pliers are an essential tool when crafting jewellery. There are three types of important pliers that all have different uses. Wire cutters are obviously used for cutting wire. It is important to purchase a good pair as you will be using this tool for jewellery making a lot. Also invest in one that is small and easy to hold, yet strong as you will need to grip it in one hand so often when you cut your wire while holding the piece of jewellery in the other hand. Flat nosed pliers are smooth on the inside of the nose. This means that you will not scratch your wire and bending and gripping are made easier. The other set of pliers needed are round nose pliers. They are mainly used for creating curls and loops on your wires. The tips of the wires are smooth, but there are no longer round nose pliers with smaller tips which enable you to create very small loops. These pliers are essential for making finer beads jewellery.

Without beads and gems your jewellery will just be plain wires. You will find all different shapes, sizes and colours to create a beautiful jewellery piece. Ordinary beads tend to be sold in small plastic bags whereas gems are normally sold on strings and knotted at the ends.

Jeweller's files will help you file away at the sharp ends of your wire so that they can't injure or irritate whoever will be wearing your jewellery creations. They help to remove material and with different sizes available you can reach even the littlest of places. For cleaning up your piece after filing, jewellers often use sand paper allowing them to achieve the perfect finish.

Head pins are a must have in jewellery making supplies. They are straight wires flat pieces on one end, which is called a ‘head'. These heads help to keep the gems or beads in place and can be used to create earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Eye pins are straight wires like a head pin, but with a small loop on one end. When you cut away the unwanted end, keep these aside as you will be able to use them later by making more of your own loops using your round nose pliers.

There are a few other little supplies that help to make the finishing touches on your jewellery look even more extra special. Polishing cloth helps to prevent scratches on your wire and leaves a smooth and shiny finish. A ruler is very useful when measuring wire to make sure you have the right length for the piece you're working on.

There are many other jewellery tools which help jewellery makers, but the ones that have been listed will still provide beautiful and unique jewellery that will make a great personalised gift.
