Do you want to look "hot to trot"? Have you ever looked at the shower jumpers and thought how stylish and elegant they looked in their riding wear. You don't own a horse though, in fact, you've never even sat on a horse - this look is not for you. WRONG!

This style can look upbeat and trendy, if you pick and choose to give your outfit an equestrian feel. It is perfect for casual wear or a more formal look.

Equestrian style boots make perfect winter wear with a pair of boot cut jeans. Alternatively, pair a riding boot with opaque tights, a lean pencil skirt and an oxford. A combination of colours can give a more attractive style. If you are more daring, then look out for vibrant colours like bright pink. For extra fashion appeal, choose a pair that has distinctive detailing. . From floral details to zips and buckles, you can be sure to find a pair that will appease your sense of fashion. Suede, leather and even patent, there is plenty of choice for the trend conscious.

Tailored jackets are classic equestrian garb and an equestrian inspired jacket can be worn casually with a pair of jeans or for a more formal occasion. Let the trend inspire you for the office. They can certainly be very flattering to the figure.

Polo-shirts are now widely worn but were inspired by the traditional uniform of polo players whilst for a more feminine take on the equine trend look out for ruffled blouses.

Jophur style trousers are both comfortable and trendy. The equestrian inspired look is very wearable for most body types. These slouchy trousers have been noted on the runway from top designers like Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana.

Finally last but not least, don't forget the accessories. Large buckled belts inspired by the cowboy can look great. I spotted a beautiful equestrian inspired scarf and there are also plenty of animal and horse print clothes available and there is a multitude of jewellery inspired by all things equine from horse shaped brooches to stirrups and horseshoes. There are even jewellery designers who specialise in equine inspired jewellery with some innovative interpretations of the the theme to make your look modern and fashionable. Look out for pendants, brooches and bracelets in pewter, leather or precious metals and you won't be disappointed.

This grey long sleeve fleece with buttons has an equestrian feel about it and is practical and stylish for horse riding or for walking in the country. It is warm and comfortable for whatever outdoor pursuits you choose.

Gillets are often worn for horse riding as they give a little bit of extra warmth to the body but allow the arms to move freely. This navy reversible sleeveless gillet with pockets is great for a variety of occasions and can worn in navy or beige depending on which outfit you are wearing. Layer it over a long sleeved top or jumper for a cosy and stylish outdoor look.
