The changing of the seasons is a natural and healthy thing. Why do some people say it is healthy? Perhaps because most old literature springs from Europe, or at least sprang from Europe. The people there were used to four clear seasons in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. They were used to certain parts of the year being hot or cold. This presumption - that the seasons are just so, is short-sighted.

For in other parts of the world, it is completely different. Some places are the same all the time - either hot and humid, or hot and dry, or completely freezing cold. People living there do not have the same concept of seasons. Mass migration and conquering of new lands also changes things. Australians are completely used to thinking of Christmas as a hot summery time.

For people who move there, even they can get used to many things, but the possibility of Christmas on the beach, or plausibly giving a colleague a bikini in their secret santa gifts is always strange. They are used to traditional toys and games for Christmas.

Some people can even get depressed with a change in weather. If they are used to rain and they move to an area which is always enjoying Mediterranean sun, then they may yearn for rain, however strange that sounds. Gift ideas for people like this might be self-help books, or maybe an umbrella if you are feeling cheeky.

Although if you do give them an umbrella and they are already close to the point of madness, it may tip them over the edge, so you may not want to follow that suggestion. You could give them a plane ticket back home, which although more expensive may be just what they really want.
