What is a Blooming Teapot anyway? Well, simply put, it is a glass teapot with the express purpose of brewing blooming tea. It seems simple, but there's more. The blooming tea process needs room for the tealeaves to unfold and enable the visually stunning flower to envelope.
As with all good quality tea leaves, they need room for the water to flow around all the surface area of the leaves. In the case of a blooming teapot, the leaves need room to steep the leaves properly and they need room to let the flower unfurl. If there is no room for the leaves to unfurl, then the tea is not steeped properly and the bloom cannot fully open. Therefore, to reiterate, the blooming teapot must have enough room for the bloom to present itself fully.
The blooming teapot must offer two very important elements: making good tea and showing blooms well. However, there is another important element: how well does the blooming teapot poor tea? This is also important so as to present the tea to the tea cup properly. I like to watch the tea leaves unfold, like staring into a fire, it is enchanting. If there is ample room for the leaves to unfurl, then the visual enjoyment is increased. The event is both calming and meditative in nature.
As with most glass teapots, the blooming teapot is constructed from borosilicate glass, useful because it is very strong, not to mention usable in the microwave and dishwasher. Some tea pots are intended purely for decoration, others for serving in style. The Blooming Teapot is intended for both!
Borosilicate glass is also best used for keeping the view clear and unobstructed. This is not possible with ceramic or clay teapots. Additionally, glass tea pots keep from staining. They are resistant to milky residue inherent in other teapots, and therefore, worry free from the clouding effects of past teapots you've seen. Better than that, you can view the tea as it steeps and perfectly gauge the color strength, or density of the brew. Hence, you'll learn to cease brewing and start pouring at the perfect moment.
The Blooming Teapot should ideally be an 800ml 26oz size, which is about 4 cups. The 1,000 ml size is a little bigger (32oz) and may be more your desired size. Either one will show the blooms perfectly.
Both Blooming Teapots may come with a glass infuser. The infuser need not even be removed from the teapot, however, for these two sizes it is probably best to remove the infuser for blooming teas and, of course, leave it in when brewing loose leaf teas. Boiling water is the right temperature for brewing blooming tea. The Blooming Teapot allows for the leaves to remain in the teapot when pour tea into your tea cup. Just one steep is never enough; from the same leaves, you can brew many pots of tea.
A great gift for a blooming tea lover, the smooth glass teapot adds beauty to any tea collection, and is the perfect beginners' teapot.
The blooming teapot is a key to the romantic universe. Watching the flower bloom with a loving friend is like sharing a view through a window to a stress free world. It is truly an escape to a faraway place free from worry and chock-full of love. Share your special light and this idyllic picture with the one you most yearn to befriend!
