Relationship counselling can be a good way to help you overcome problems as a couple but many London couples are moving away from traditional counselling and opting for psychotherapy to combat deeper problems and learn how to deal with problems that may come up in the future.

Many people have problems that require help from counselling or psychotherapy, it can be anything from mental health problems, dealing with grief or depression or even just issues with communication. Counselling and psychotherapy are a good way to get help with such problems to help you have a happy and healthy life.

It takes strength to realise you have a problem but when you do and start to get help you can be on your way to a much happier life in which you can build healthier relationships. Many couples will come across problems in a relationship or marriage that makes them feel as though they cannot go on.

Relationship counselling with a psychotherapist can help you resolve any issues you have and also help you understand how your actions and your partner’s actions affect the relationship. Psychotherapy can help you understand the way you react to certain problems and understanding your behaviour and your partners can help you make changes or come to an understanding that will help you live happily ever after.

Whether in couples counselling or individually, Psychotherapists use range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behaviour change. These will help you understand your behaviour and if necessary improve your mental health; this has an impact on many areas of your life including relationships with your family, partner or spouse.

Psychotherapy is different to ordinary counselling and psychotherapists are fully qualified, many have qualifications in a number of skills such as psychiatry, clinical or psychiatric social work, clinical psychology, counselling psychology, occupational therapy, mental health counselling, rehabilitation counselling, music therapy, psychiatric nursing, psychoanalysis, marriage and family therapy and many more. It is important that you only go to a qualified psychotherapist for help, they do not need all of the qualifications listed but depending on your problem they should be qualified and experienced to help you.

A good psychotherapist can not only help you with your immediate problem but also help you change the way you deal with problems and communication issues that may arise in the future.
