Cornwall is a beautiful place to get married: From the dramatic coastlines of Falmouth and Portreath, to the beautiful towns of Truro and St. Ives, Cornwall has a plethora of magical wedding venues, all vying for a young bride's attention.
However, although Cornwall is blessed by having so many spectacular places to get married in, there is no guarantee that your wedding day photos will look amazing, just because the venue does.
That's why it's so important to pick a wedding photographer in Cornwall who really know what he or she is doing - it is simply not enough to have a pictureesque venue; a top-quality wedding photographer is still needed to make your photos shine.
So, what are the main points to consider when choosing your Cornish wedding photographer?
1. The cost.
Although you will only be walking down the aisle once in your entire lifetime, you still don't want to pay through the nose for the photographic memories, so cost is a very important factor to consider. Wedding photography charges vary dramatically, from a couple of hundred pounds, to tens of thousands - so consider how much you are happy to pay before starting your research.
2. What is included in the photography package?
Does the photographer supply a wedding album as part of the package? Are there a certain number of prints that you'll get? Does he or she supply a DVD with all of your photos on - and, if so, will they be the full-resolution images? It is very important to find out just what is included in your photography package before committing.
3. What style of photography do you want?
Many photographers these days shoot in a reportage, ‘natural' style, where they keep at a distance, recording your wedding day as it unfolds, without ‘scripting' photos. However, a lot of brides and grooms still want some traditional, ‘posed' photos, so make sure you sit down with your potential photographer and tell them what you're looking for.
4. Does your photographer know Cornwall well?
Although you could choose a photographer from outside of Cornwall (as many are used to travelling a long way for a wedding), would you prefer someone who lives in Cornwall, a photographer who has experience of weddings within the county, and thus someone who could advise and help you with decisions regarding appropriate photographic opportunities?
5. Do you get on with your photographer?
This is an important point that many people don't even think about, and it's absolutely vital because, if you don't get on with him or her, then you will be able to see it in the photos. It is the photographer's job to make you look your best, and if you can't relax with the photographer - for whatever reason - then you will look stressed in your photos.
Make sure you meet your photographer before committing, because it is important that you can talk freely, have a smile and laugh together and - at the very least - stand to be in his or her company for an entire day!
