For those wishing to save money in their household costs, and cut down the monthly bills, IP telephones are a great way in which to do this. You may have seen adverts for such services and been sure of what an IP telephone is, or what it entails, so here we have broken down the basic facts about IP phones and how you can utilise them to make fantastic savings.
IP telephones are a system which uses your existing internet connection to make calls. If you have broadband, DSL, or a cable modem to get your internet, these can all be tapped into to make calls via IP (Internet Protocol). This system has advanced greatly in recent years and is much clearer and straightforward than it once was.
The main advantage of using the IP telephony system to make calls is the cost saving factor - you will find that this is a fraction of the price of traditional calls. If you have teenagers who seem to spend half their lives on the phone, or a relative or friend who lives abroad and who you like to keep in touch with regularly, VoIP can offer massive savings over time. By having an IP telephone system, you can talk as much as you want and it will be included in one low monthly fee. It is the best, most reliable way of avoiding those shocking phone bills as you know what to expect each month - your bill is always the same price.
In addition to the great savings, which let's face it, most of us would welcome, is the fact that IP phones have far greater functionality and allow you to manage calls better. Businesses can use the system to manage calls within different departments, and with handy features such as voicemail, fax, caller ID and call forwarding, there are many advantages to this versatile phone system, beyond just the cost saving factor.
You can also set all your calls to be welcomed with a professionally recorded greeting or forwarded directly to your mobile number or another extension. The providers of IP telephone systems have really looked into providing a rounded system for customers, which provides everything a business or household could want in telephone communication.
With so many of us now having mobile phones, the home landline is being gradually phased out, as people wonder whether this is an unnecessary expense. However IP telephones cut this issue, since they are so cheap and use something most of us already have in our homes - internet. It is always good to have a back up phone service at home for when mobile phones run out of credit or inclusive minutes, not to mention calling abroad, and IP phones provide this. The savings you make via IP calls can quickly make your internet connection pay for itself many times over.
The only real disadvantage of IP phones is that when your internet goes down your phone will not work, however internet connectivity is becoming more reliable on a daily basis, so this issue will be a rare occasion.
