When your Christmas marketing campaign is done this year, you'll want it to have been at least as good as last year. But in this economy, doing the bigger and better marketing strategy isn't going to be as easy as it has been in the past. Not only is it going to be more expensive to do the same level of marketing as last year, but the powers that be are actually pushing the "less is more" philosophy this year. So, what can be done to have more impact without being too over the top and without breaking the holiday marketing budget?

Something little like a Christmas sticker or Christmas seal on the back of letters and cards you send out over the holiday season will definitely stand out. In the past, history shows that letters and cards from the Sovereign were prized possessions by most people because most people didn't receive letters from royalty. One thing that made their correspondence stand out from the rest was the wax stamps they used to seal their letters with. When you received letters from royalty sealed with wax, it was usually embossed with the coat of arms of the house. To receive a letter with an embossed wax seal was truly a special occasion.

Today, letters all have glue to seal them with on the edge of the flap, so having to seal them with wax has gone by the wayside. This means that the need to have an external seal on the outside of the envelope is really superfluous. But, that actually means that when someone receives a letter with a special embossed seal, they do pay attention to it. And when that seal has the name of the business on it with "Happy Holidays" or some other Christmas greeting on it, the customer will take even more notice.

So when it comes time to build up your marketing strategy for the holiday season, adding that special touch with a Christmas sticker truly does add a level of personal attention that everyone really appreciates. By having a Christmas seal on the back of cards, letters and even invoices shows people that you do appreciate them as well. It may be little, but something like that will be just that much more impactful than ever before without being too much, or killing your budget.
