Hi Vis clothing is mostly used by street worker, emergency service, policeman, drivers and bikers. The basic usage

of these types of cloths is to make visible a person that is in the middle of the road working, or riding a bike or

motorcycle at night.

Street workers have to respond to calls at all times, this is why, and most of them can work during the night. A

broken pipe or cable under the road, or a flooded drain may hold the working personnel for a whole night in the

street. For drivers to see these people and prevent accidents, the workers are forced to wear high visibility

clothing also referred to as hi vis clothing. The basic color of high visibility clothing is a yellow-green with

retro-reflective strips. The emergency personnel can have hi vis clothing in a strong red color, with the same white

reflective stripes. If an accident takes place in busy street at night, these cloths can help all the emergency

personnel to stay protected from running cars. In this case, the police or fire department can also be involved,

each wearing such cloths.

If motorcycle riders are easily noticed, even without high visibility clothing, bikers are silent, and very hard to

spot by drivers at night. People riding bikes, must always have such cloths, and to create a better image at night

time, the bike must also have reflective strips incorporated. This will give a better view of the biker, for the

derivers to see and to calculate the distance of approach.

Policemen that are in charge of traffic must be present in the middle of the road 24/7. For these workers, the

visible cloths are very important, because the literally have to stand in the middle of the road and direct cars.

Not being visible to the drivers, doesn’t only make impossible for the policemen to do their job, but can also cost

lives.

Drivers must always wear such cloths in their truck. If a car gets damaged on the road, the driver must obviously

step out of the car, see if he or she can fix it, or call for auto-service. If this happens at night, the drivers

must be spotted by other drivers, so must wear visible cloths.
