Most of us remember the feeling of triumph when we finally passed our driving test. Finally, the world was our oyster now that we knew all there was to know about how to handle a vehicle out on the roads. Of course, we quickly realised that there's much more learning to come after we receive our licence - indeed, we improve our driving skills every time we embark on a new journey.

The best drivers actively seek to improve their skills at every opportunity - and there are a number of resources available for anybody who wants to do the same. One of the best options for somebody who wants to further their ability behind the wheel is an advanced driving course. These educational programmes seek to teach drivers of all ages and experience how to read the road ahead more effectively and therefore improve concentration levels as well as their ability to react to potentially dangerous situations in the optimal way.

The benefits of advanced driving courses are twofold: not only will you become more confident that you can handle most situations that the roads can throw at you, but you'll also find that it could have a beneficial effect on the cost of your car insurance. Some companies see drivers who have successfully completed an advanced driving module as a low risk for road accidents, and offer favourably priced premiums accordingly.

Do you know which hand signal means what? Or what each and every road marking indicates? Taking one of the tests on offer may just reveal that you don't know quite as much about the roads as you thought you did.
